KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama "The Law Cafe" drama is written by Im Jeong-jeong and directed by Lee Eun-jin.

A direct interview with the original web novel writer Noh Seung-ah was released last August 8th.

Q. The original web novel "The Law Cafe" received a lot of love with 9.9 stars and more than 25 million views. The background of planning "The Law Cafe"

What I wanted to draw through writing was not only the romance between the male and female protagonists, but also the small pieces of life that were changed by that love. So, I decided to present the work "The Law Cafe" because I wanted to talk about love and life together by showing the steps of the main characters, which are imbued with good and warm feelings. The keywords that run through the novel are "Belief" and "Love". I wanted to portray the process of Kim Yu-ri's right belief and Kim Jung-ho's deep love for Kim Yu-ri, becoming one at the end of a conflict and becoming a light that warmly illuminates the surroundings. 'Law' is a system and norm closely related to our lives, but it is true that it feels somewhat difficult and distant, and I thought that if we deal with the Law that we encounter in the daily lives of ordinary neighbors, we could sympathize with the way the two love touches the world.

Q. At the time the web novel was published, former prosecutor Kim Jeong-ho and court authority Yu-ri were very popular. How did the motive that led to the creation of the two characters and the setting of 'Law Cafe' come about?

A love story that develops from a friend to a lover is exciting and loved by many people, but in a way it can be seen as common. I thought it would be nice to set the male and female characters a little more interesting and special. Since I decided to deal with 'law', I thought prosecutors and lawyers would be professionals, but one of them took off the prosecutor's suit and lived as an arrogant and unemployed person. I thought it might be interesting and intriguing. Also, for ordinary people, places related to 'law', such as courts, lawyers' and prosecutors' offices, are not easily accessible in everyday life, and that high walls can be felt. I thought about how powerful it would be if an expert was waiting to tell me about it, so the character was firmly captured. The name "Law Cafe" was decided to show the character of the space most intuitively, like a fortune-telling cafe or a board game cafe. I was able to create a variety of stories in it believing that there would be people like Yuri somewhere.

Q. When did you first hear the news that "The Law Cafe" will be made into a drama? How did you feel at that time, and the feeling of watching the dramatization in full swing?

I first wrote a novel in 2013, and a web novel serialization was done on Naver in 2014. At the time, I thought that the copyright agreement alone was an honor and joy. I had put my mind down for a long time, so it was not difficult to wait, so at some point I started to rush into production. It was a thrilling and heartbreaking experience to watch the characters and backgrounds of "The Law Cafe" which existed only in print was now take shape in real life.

Q. Actors Lee Seung-gi and Lee Se-young have been cast. How did you feel when you heard the news of the two castings? Also, from the perspective of the original writer, how much do you think the synchronization rate between the original character and the two actors is?

I thought it was the most perfect and grateful casting. It was an image that quite matched the image I had imagined to the extent that there was no actor who could express the two main characters better than this, Kim Jung-ho and Kim Yu-ri. Kim Jung-ho is a person with a sense of wit and humor, such as liking to play pranks in everyday life, different from his superiority in all aspects such as brain, appearance, and resourcefulness, so that he is called a 'monster genius'. He is a character who is a 'heavenly class' spectator, but he is a hero with a sense of humor and humanity with a reverse charm. Kim Yu-ri is a just, dignified, confident, smart, and truly beautiful person. She coolly acknowledges her shortcomings and knows how to live the life she wants without comparing herself to others. In some interviews, she felt that the actress's values ​​and methods of life resembled Yuri to a great extent, so I'm more looking forward to the Yuri that Lee Se-young, who is beautiful both inside and out, will show her. Sending infinite trust and support to Lee Seung-gi and Lee Se-young, I will wait for their chemistry with excitement.

Q. Writer Noh Seung-ah, the original web novelist, even visited the filming set and showed her extraordinary affection for her work. Experience of visiting the filming site in person

The background and characters that were only in my head were in the middle of a scene that gained vitality through the efforts and devotion of many people, so it felt unrealistic. It was like dreaming and entering a story I had written. As much detail as each of the props is alive, it was like looking closely into the lives of Jung-ho and Yuri. Those of you who have seen the original book will probably feel the surprise and joy of the scene that fully embodies the background in the novel.

Q. At the beginning of the drama "The Law Cafe", you also predicted that a revised version and republishing of the original novel, as well as a special side story of the original novel, would be released. What do you think is the secret to the continued popularity of "The Law Cafe" from the beginning until now, and if you could give any hints about the "Special Extramarital Exhibition" that you are currently working on?

Nearly 10 years have passed since I first wrote it. Even so, many people still sympathize with me because this work is talking about our lives and love, which are values ​​that do not change over the years. In "Special Extramarital Exhibition", which will be presented to commemorate the airing of this drama, even after the play is over, they continue to live and love, which is special, but it can be seen as depicting our ordinary lives. A new story from the original will be included along with the drama, so please look forward to it.

Q. In the opinion of the original writer, the first point to watch the drama "The Law Cafe"

It is the actors' passionate performances. Both the lead and supporting actors became a hot topic for the casting of the 'acting genius' actors, but I am also looking forward to the actual drama airing date as you will wonderfully express the witty lines, interesting situations, and interesting relationships in the script. The second is 'The story of the fluttering love of the main characters and the warm neighbors. They made a really interesting script by adding new characters and various events to it, while keeping the important background and character settings of the original work well. Not only the love story of the main characters who were the main characters in the original story, but also the rich stories surrounding 'Law Cafe', so I think it will be a drama full of fun every time.

Q. What kind of work do you want to be remembered as the drama "The Law Cafe" following the original?

This is a sentence expressing Yuri's thoughts in the original web novel, "I wanted to make sure that the law exists not to protect the things of those who have it, but to care for all those who live normally." The drama "The Law Cafe" also reflects this value well throughout the drama, so I hope it will be remembered for a long time as a work that gives warmth to everyone.
